After completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, my next goal was to obtain my AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification. Once I achieved that, my focus shifted towards gaining real-world hands-on experience by utilizing AWS cloud services. While searching the internet for AWS projects to gain experience, I stumbled upon the Cloud Resume Challenge created by Forrest Brazeal. The Cloud Resume Challenge was designed for individuals looking to start a career in the cloud and consists of 16 steps broken down into 5 different chunks. The challenge can be completed using one of three cloud service providers: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Amazon Web Services (AWS). For this challenge, I chose the AWS track.
In order to complete the CRC there are 16 steps that need to be completed in its entirety to finish the challenge. Below are the following steps :
- 1. Certification
- 2. HTML
- 3. CSS
- 4. Static Website
- 5. HTTPS
- 6. DNS
- 7. Javascript
- 8. Database
- 9. API
- 10. Python
- 11. Tests
- 12. Infrastructure as Code
- 13. Source control
- 14. CI/CD (Front End)
- 15. CI/CD (Back End)
- 16. Blog
Chunk 0-Certification
Chunk 0 of the challenge requires the learner to obtain an introductory cloud certification if they have no experience with a cloud service provider. For AWS, the certification required is the Certified Cloud Practitioner certification (CCP). If you have an Advanced AWS certification such as the AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification, you can skip this part. The certification can be completed at any point in the challenge. Since I had already obtained my AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification before starting the challenge, I was able to skip this part and dive right into chunk 1, which was the Front End.
